Director of Public Health, Wakefield Council
Dr Andrew Furber has been Director of Public Health (DPH) for Wakefield Council since 2009 and President of the UK Association of Directors of Public Health since 2015. He is the lead DPH in Yorkshire and Humber for tobacco control. He was previously DPH in North Lincolnshire and a Consultant in Public Health in Sheffield and within the regional public health team. Andrew originally trained as a GP before working in international development for 7 years latterly with the Department for International Development. His international work ranged from training village health workers to advising on national policy. In his spare time Andrew enjoys playing tennis, running and growing chillies.
