Deborah Harkins
Director of Public Health, Calderdale Council
Deborah took up the post of Direct of Public Health for Calderdale on 1st April 2020. Prior to that Deborah was Director of Public Health and Wellbeing at Dudley Council responsible for public health, libraries, environmental health and trading standards, emergency planning and business continuity, community development, equality and diversity and the Borough Vision.
Deborah has worked in public health for 30 years, in various roles in South Yorkshire, the North West and the West Midlands. Throughout her career she has been passionate about community centred public health, using innovative approaches to empower communities to take action to address the social, economic and environmental determinants of health.
