In autumn 2018 the Government launched the UK’s first Loneliness Strategy, with the ambition for all public services and organisations to maximise opportunities to promote social connections and connect those who are experiencing loneliness across the life-course to the support or services they need.

One year on the Yorkshire and Humber Public Health England (PHE) Centre, in partnership with the Yorkshire and Humber Association of Directors of Public Health (APDH), are proud to offer a regional conference to look at the journey so far, welcoming contributions from a full range of government, public sector, academic, charitable and community organisations.

This event will provide a platform to share ideas, best practice and new approaches, with a particular focus on activity within the Yorkshire and Humber region.  We are also inviting attendees to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations that address tackling loneliness and social isolation. This is an opportunity to showcase your work in public health practice or research to other people working in this area.

Who should attend

The conference will be of particular interest to public health professionals and academics working in the field of public health, local authority portfolio holders for health and wellbeing and/or community engagement, voluntary and community sector organisations, clinical commissioning groups and commissioners of NHS services.
