Minding the Gap: Programme Review Webinar
23 September 2024
In Yorkshire and the Humber people experience poorer health and wellbeing than those in other parts of the country. Much of this poor health is preventable and there is lots that we can do together to reduce these unfair differences.
Minding the Gap is an independent programme of work in Yorkshire and the Humber, driving action across the determinants of health to reduce health inequalities across the region. Funded by the Directors of Public Health in Yorkshire and the Humber, it has been at the forefront of the advocacy work to reduce health inequalities and improve population health.
As such, we are delighted to have Alice Wiseman (Director of Public Health, Gateshead and Newcastle Council and Vice President of the Association of Directors of Public Health), Lucy Greenfield and Emma Gibson sharing how Gateshead Council used planning powers to combat the rise of hot food takeaways. We also have Karen Horrocks and Uchenna Anikwu who will share a regional example of a mapping exercise of food related planning policy, sharing best practice and information.
Anna Hartley (Executive Director Public Health & Communities, Barnsley Council) and Councillor Jonathan Owen (Chair East Riding Health and Wellbeing Board) will also reflect on the role of Minding the Gap over the years.
