Training - Carbon Literacy

Healthcare - The Carbon Literacy Project is the largest climate education charity, operating globally from Manchester. It has been developed primarily for the NHS, but it is aimed at all health related staff. It is free for NHS England organisations until 2026.  Contact helen.taylor@carbonliteracy.com, healthcare coordinator for more details. Helen is promoting the Healthcare Toolkit comprising of e-learning courses that are both generic and support leadership.

Please save the date for the UKHSA Summer 2024 Preparedness Webinar and Q&A session, scheduled for 9th May 2024.

This session will delve into:


• the latest weather forecast for summer 2024
• reflections on summer 2023, including observed public health impacts of hot weather
• how the Heat Health Alerting System and the National Severe Weather Warning Service work
• the Adverse Weather and Health Plan's implications for emergency preparedness and response
• the role of local and national authorities, social care services, and community and voluntary services in the implementation of the Plan

AWHP 2024/25 Launch

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) released a series of products for this year implementation of the Adverse Weather and Health Plan AWHP, namely:

• The AWHP Plan 2024/25 - click here
• the AWHP Supporting Evidence Document 2024 (to be published by the 26th March 2024) - click here
• The AWHP Equity review – click here

This year’s edition of the Plan has been expanded to include:


• an activities list, highlighting those key actions to be taken forward as identified in the AWHP, actions linked to recommendations made in the AWHP SED, and those contained in the AWHP 2023 to 2024 Midterm report
• a new SED chapter on emerging hazards, which includes storms and thunderstorm asthma hazards
• information on health inequalities arising from the AWHP Equity Review
• a major review of its monitoring framework

 

AWHP Capacity Building Materials | Recordings, Slides and Self- Assessment Quiz
Considering the received feedback on the organisation of our events, we are now testing a new approach in updating you on AWHP development process. We are sharing with you two recordings on the AWHP contents and this year updates, so you can access the information when it does fit you. More information on the two recordings learning objectives can be found below. Both recordings have a duration of approximately 15 minutes.

AWHP Micro Course learning objectives
• Outline the four key components of the AWHP
• Identify the weather hazards covered by the AWHP
• Locate the current guidance in the gov.uk website
• Outline areas of improvement of possible organisational processes considering the AWHP

AWHP 2024/25 updates learning objectives
• To identify the key updates of the AWHP Plan
• To outline the key updates to the AWHP Supporting Evidence Document
• To list the key updates from the AWHP Equity Review
