Adult Safeguarding and Homelessness: 8 virtual Seminars
In 2019/2020 four national workshops were organised on adult safeguarding and homelessness through the Care and Health Improvement Programme (CHIP). The outcome was a published briefing on adult safeguarding and homelessness, published by the Local Government Association and the Association of Directors of Social Services (see https://www.local.gov.uk/adult-safeguarding-and-homelessness-briefing-positive-practice ). A further series of 8 virtual seminars has been developed to take this work forward, and to inform a further briefing on adult safeguarding and homelessness, including the impact of Covid-19.
Thursday 17th December 2020, 10am-12 noon: Foundations for Positive Practice in safeguarding people who are homeless.
Professor Michael Preston-Shoot will present on “Best evidence on adult safeguarding when working with people experiencing multiple exclusion homelessness” and Bruno Ornelas will present on “Understanding care assessments and safeguarding planning for people experiencing homelessness.” There will be an opportunity to share observations and ask questions.

13th January 2021 - Commissioning and Provider Services: safeguarding people experiencing homelessness. Confirmed speakers include Gill Taylor.
18th January - Psychologically-informed and Reflective Practice in safeguarding people experiencing homelessness. Speakers include Katy Shorten and Lydia Guthrie.
25th January - Learning Lessons from the Response to Covid-19 regarding safeguarding people experiencing homelessness. Speakers include Susan Harrison.
15th February - Legal Literacy in safeguarding people experiencing homelessness. Confirmed speakers: Laura Pritchard-Jones and Henry St Clair Miller
23rd February - Governance of Adult Safeguarding and Homelessness. Confirmed speakers include Jane Cook and Michael Preston-Shoot
1st March - Tackling Specific Issues: safeguarding people experiencing homelessness. Confirmed speakers include Mike Ward (alcohol abuse), Barney Wells (mental capacity) and Kate Spreadbury (multi-agency collaboration).
8th March - Making Every Adult Matter and Every Contact Count – Reviewing Learning about Positive Practice in safeguarding people experiencing homelessness. Confirmed speakers include Adi Cooper, Michael Preston-Shoot and experts by experience.
All seminars take place between 10am and 12 noon except those on 18th January, which will be held between 3pm and 5pm, and 23rd February and 8th March, which will be held between 2pm and 4pm.

Homeless Outreach & COVID-19: National Stakeholder Webinar: 15 December 2020, 10-11.30 am

- Share insights into new homeless outreach service delivery models, including the impact on health inequalities
- Signpost you to resources to undertake local rapid evaluations of initiatives during the ongoing pandemic. This webinar will be useful for anyone who works with people experiencing homelessness or rough sleeping.

- Homeless health and liaison teams
- Drug service workers, nurses and managers
- Commissioners of services for people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping, including for people who use drugs

North East and Yorkshire and Humber webinar: Health and street homelessness
2nd December at 10am - 12pm
Aim
To raise awareness, provide information and facilitate joint working between agencies in order to better meet the health and wellbeing needs of individuals experiencing street homelessness across the North East and Yorkshire and the Humber.
Audience
Any organisation involved in the commissioning, planning or provision of healthcare to individuals experiencing street homelessness. This will include CCGs, local authority (public health teams and housing leads), primary care, criminal justice organisations and voluntary and community organisations and social enterprises.
