Y&H Dual Diagnosis Forum 09-02-22

The term ‘dual diagnosis’ is used in a variety of ways by people working in the health and social care sector – it is often a term that is used to describe co-occurring mental health and alcohol and/or drug use conditions. Research shows that mental health problems are experienced by the majority of drug (70%) and alcohol (86%) users in community substance misuse treatment and that people with co-occurring conditions have a heightened risk of other health problems and early death (PHE, 2017).

This regional forum was an opportunity to bring partners together from across the region to hear the latest updates on National policy, share current developments in both mental health and substance misuse services and share regional examples of innovative practice that is being delivered by a range of organisations.

The event was chaired by Tim Fielding, Deputy Director of Public Health at Hull City Council and there will be presentations from a range of national and local speakers.

This forum will be of interest to Substance Misuse Services, Mental Health Services, Local Public Health Teams, Local Authorities, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Integrated Care Systems, Regional Police Forces and Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations.

Please see below the slides and recording of the session.
