Practice Improvement

Practice Improvement (PI) is an overarching approach to strengthening public health practice through the integration of sector-led improvement, quality improvement, public health audit and assurance.

Practice Improvement is intended to support continuous improvement in the quality, effectiveness and responsiveness of public health services, while also improving professional practice and reducing health inequalities.  Central to the National ADPH definition is the principle that improvement is collaborative, evidence-informed and rooted in peer support, shared learning and collective responsibility across our local systems.

Within this context, the ADPH Yorkshire and the Humber Network has developed a Communities of Improvement (CoI) approach as a practical mechanism for collaborative public health leadership across the region.

Our Communities of Improvement are strategic networks jointly supported by the Yorkshire and Humber ADPH network and our key regional system partners in the Department of Health & Social Care, NHS and the UK Health Security Agency.
