Y&H ADPH Practice Improvement Conference 2026
Association of the Directors of Public Health Yorkshire and the Humber (ADPH YH) in association with the Faculty of Public Health
Venue and Date: The Hope Centre, Bernard Road, Sheffield, S2 5BQ - Wednesday 1st July 2026
The annual Practice Improvement Conference is the highlight of the region’s practice improvement programme of work. It brings together colleagues from across the region’s Public Health system to look back and celebrate a wide range of excellent projects and delivery, and to collectively think about the main issues and challenges for the future.
This year, the Directors of Public Health and senior system leaders from across the region have chosen the theme for the conference as being:
“Public Health: working in a political environment, and the ethical management of self, looking at the issues we all face in this complex environment”
There will be a range of keynote and breakout session speakers to hear from, learning about their own experiences and insights of this topic. There will also be opportunities to explore the challenges and opportunities that arise from the local, regional and national political landscapes when delivering public health work.
As usual, we will also be featuring networking time to meet and talk to colleagues, and to explore the Abstract Marketplace. This marketplace will feature around 90 examples of the truly excellent work that has been, and is continuing to be, delivered across the region, whether through our various partner organisations in local places, or collectively through our Communities of Improvement and other groups regionally.
This year, the Morning Keynote Speakers will be:
- Robin Tuddenham, Chief Executive for Calderdale Council
- Dr Ebere Okereke, Global Health Advisor to the Director General Mohamed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity in Abu Dhabi
- Tracy Daszkiewicz, President of the Faculty of Public Health
The Afternoon Keynote Speakers will be:
- Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England
- Kate Josephs, Chief Executive for Sheffield City Council
And our Breakout Sessions will be led by:
- Greg Fell, Director of Public Health for Sheffield and President of ADPH UK
- Andrew Lee, Professor of Public Health for Sheffield University and ex-Deputy Regional Director for UKHSA
- Cllr Jonathan Owen, Elected Member and HWBB Chair for East Riding Council
- Ailsa Rutter, Director of Fresh & Balance
- Dr Amy Stevens, Public Health Consultant for Bevan Healthcare
We look forward to meeting all of those who attend on the day and a full brochure, including full details of the speakers, venue location, and how to get there, will be sent out to those who book a place before the day of the conference.
