Creating Active Schools
The webinar presented on the 21 October 2019 is part of the work we are doing to support efforts to increase children’s physical activity in Yorkshire & Humber
Physical activity contributes to both good physical and mental development. However, too many children and young people are not reaching the recommended levels of physical activity. We know that there is a strong link between attainment and educational outcomes and the health and wellbeing of pupils.
Schools and colleges play a pivotal role in helping to develop positive physical activity habits by raising awareness of the importance of regular physical activity and by increasing children’s exposure to fun and varied activities, as well creating more active environments so that pupils find it easier to simply move more during their day. Importantly, schools and colleges are uniquely placed to support the most inactive pupils, as well as the wider school community, to become more active.
